(Maribel Ramos-Weiner). Don Browne, President of Telemundo, thinks the deal between Comcast and NBC Universal is very positive for the Hispanic network.Browne explained that during a conversation with Ralph Roberts, founder of Comcast, he expressed two main interests for the future: the businesses that are growing and the Hispanic and international segments“We are growing, we are Hispanic and we have an international business. They are also interested in the fact that we are content producers. Comcast is looking for content and that is the base of our business. It is a beautiful combination and there is no doubt that in order for us to grow we have to invest. I believe Comcast is very aware of this and willing to invest to expedite our growth,” said Browne to PRODU.When asked about the network’s next original production, Browne said: “In my opinion, La reina del sur is the best production in the history of Spanish-language television in the U.S. We are very proud and hope ratings are good.” Browne pointed out the telenovela has sparked great interest on the part of international buyers. He mentioned the telenovela has been shot in Morocco, Spain, Mexico, Miami, and Colombia.Browne also made reference to upcoming deals to co-produce content. “We have had important talks regarding future productions. Our content does very well internationally and we will have new partners in the future. Strategic alliances are very important to us,” he added.
