Grupo Macías: In dubbing, the biggest challenge is to adapt the cultural vision

Ricardo Mendoza, Coordinator of translations into Portuguese at Grupo Macías, explained that Brazil’s most important production company, Globo, dedicates practically all its production for dubbing to them, therefore they have a huge responsibility.

The work volume and demands of this client led Grupo Macías to dedicate to Globo exclusive rooms since several years ago. From there, Mendoza leads the team of translators, both in the premises and external ones, and assigns them the different projects.

“The biggest challenge has been to adapt the cultural vision of this client´s productions. That in Spanish-speaking countries they understand what those who only speak Portuguese wanted to convey. Globo is always innovating and presents new subject topics. At Grupo Macías, we take care of this commitment with the highest quality,” he mentioned.

Mendoza comprises the team, which operates from one of the several buildings that belong to Grupo Macías in Mexico City, where an important part of their operation is concentrated. This year, they are celebrating 50 years of success in the dubbing industry.
