The Fusion Media Group (FMG), a division of Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), announced that it has reached a creative and multi-platform production deal with 25-time Grammy Award winning recording artist Residente.

The five-year agreement will include the development of new multimedia content spanning music, television and digital content as well as merchandising, endorsements and sponsorships opportunities.

Residente (aka René Perez Joglar) is a Puerto Rican rapper, writer, producer and the co-founder of alternative rap duo Calle 13.

With music and live shows at the center of the partnership, Residente will release a new album and embark on a world tour early next year, marking his first solo project since his departure from Calle 13.

The multi-platform deal also includes the production of a feature-length documentary and a range of social and digital content, including a new experiential website.

This portfolio of content will be distributed and promoted across the television, radio and digital platforms of both FMG and UCI providing an unprecedented 360° cross-platform, cross-cultural arrangement. FMG has reached a licensing agreement with Sony Music Entertainment to distribute Residente’s new album.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with an artist of Residente’s caliber – whose unique voice, unparalleled art and commitment to social justice deserve a far-reaching platform, now more than ever,” said Jorge ‘Pepo’ Ferradas, president of Music for Univision Communications Inc.
