Azteca America will launch the latest season of the musical reality show La Academia on Sunday, July 8 at 9pm/8C with 18 fresh and talented performers and hosted by actor and entertainer Adal Ramones.

Sixteen years ago, a cultural phenomenon rose in Mexico that revolutionized television. The musical reality show entitled La Academia became the most important platform for new musical talent in Spanish-language television, yielding 250 alumni throughout ten different classes.

Among the many notable graduates of La Academia are Yuridia, Yahir, Myriam, Víctor García, Cynthia Rodríguez, Carlos Rivera, Raúl Sandoval, Laura Caro, Cecilia de la Cueva, María Inés, Hiromi Hayakawa, and Nadia, a 2009 Grammy nominee. They are just a few of the talented performers who have found success in the music industry, theater, and television.

The television phenomenon returns in 2018 with a new class of students composed of 18 performers who will remain isolated from the outside world as they attend a performing arts academy built entirely within the of confines of the TV Azteca Mexico studios.

The students at the school will learn from instructors specializing in singing, acting, dance, conditioning, and physical expression. The musical performances will be evaluated by a panel of four celebrity judges: Edith Márquez, Arturo López Gavito, Horacio Villalobos and Edwin Luna

As was the case with the inaugural class, the academy this term will be headed by Héctor Martínez. A veteran of television, music, and entertainment for over 25 years, he has discovered and fostered new talent throughout his career.
