Margarita Black, VP of Programming of Azteca America, said to PRODU she was excited about the large growth potential Azteca sees in the U.S., especially because it has top-notch programming for the Mexican audience.“I think we have all the programming Mexicans in the U.S. want to watch,” Black told PRODU. She mentioned the network is coming out with Premio Mujer, an annual award show with red carpet and all the glitz, that honors the most accomplished Hispanic women. She said the channel is investing in comedy, a genre that hasn’t been developed well in Hispanic TV. “The new comedy franchise we’re creating will be very interesting,” she added.Black pointed out she works closely with Azteca Mexico, and feels as tough it’s one large company with a promising future in the U.S.
