The Cannes Lions Festival appointed SY Lau as Media Person of the Year

The International Festival of Creativity Cannes Lions announced during a conference in Beijing, they will honor SY Lau, Tencent’s senior executive VP and president of Online Media Group, naming him Media Person of the Year at the 2015 Festival.As they explained, SY Lau has driven the evolution of Online Media Group of Tencent, then an internet portal, to an integrated media network with a leading position in China. “What SY has achieved is truly inspiring and Media Person of the Year recognizes precisely those who have shaped the future of the creative communication industry and stand out as influential figures. SY is the epitome of that and it’s an honor to reward him with this award,” Terry Savage said, president of Lions Festivals.Meanwhile, SY Lau said: “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of Tencent Online Media Group. Tencent is proud of its commitment to delivering innovation and content that continually pushes the user experience to new levels of excellence. This award is a recognition for the immense efforts of our teams in order to meet the demands of the dynamic lifestyle of people around the world,” he concluded.SY Lau will be awarded on Wednesday, June 24th during the Festival to be held from 21st to 27th in France.
