El comercial de Mountain Dew fue eliminado por los comentarios negativos que generó
PepsiCo has dropped the online spot of the non-alcoholic beverage Mountain Dew after it angered viewers who called it racist and misogynist. The commercial was developed by African-American rapper Tyler, The Creator. He and Mountain Dew have been pulled from all channels, according to a company communique. “We apologize for this video and take full responsibility. We have removed it from all Mountain Dew channels and Tyler is removing it from his channels as well” the company said. The spot begins with a lineup of black suspects behind a glass, with names like Lil Musty and Beyonte, and a goat in a suit called Felicia. On the other side of the glass is a white woman, beaten and bruised, who has been called on to identify her attacker. With her is a white man holding a bottle of Mountain Dew. During the video some offensive comments are made by the goat, rapper style, about what the woman better do. There are some plays on words around the name of the beverage. After seeing the video, social commentator and author Boyce D. Watkins said “Mountain Dew has set a new low for corporate racism. Their decision to lean on well-known racial stereotypes is beyond disgusting”.
