Internet of Things se define como la integración de la maquinaria física compleja con sensores y software de red
According to a survey in May 2014 carried out by GE Edelman Berland, most business executives around the world have heard of IoT (Internet of Things); however, familiarity was low, more than half of the respondents who had heard of the IoT said they were not sure what it meant. Meanwhile, 44% had never heard of the concept.Edelman Berland defined Internet of Things as “the next generation of Internet, the integration of complex physical machinery with sensors and networking software.”As for a breakdown by industry, the survey found that the preparation and planning for the IoT varied greatly across sectors. As expected, high tech / IT industry business executives were the most willing to optimize the IoT, with 34% of respondents.A telecommunications group were the second most prepared, 31% of respondents, but curiously, they did not take advantage of the IoT and they were the least likely to say what they planned, and the most likely to report that they had no intention of doing so. Meanwhile, healthcare assistants and manufacturers were the last in terms of preparation, only 21% of respondents in each of these industries said they were prepared to optimize the IoT, and nearly half had never heard of it.
