Instagram co-founder joins the board of Walmart

Walmart Stores announced that it has appointed Kevin Systrom, entrepreneur, software engineer and co-founder of Instagram as a new board member. Since last September, 26th, Systrom became the fifteenth member of the board of Walmart. He will also serve as a member of the Committee on Technology and Electronic Commerce, the Compensation Committee and Nominating and Corporate Governance of the company.”The corporate history of Kevin and his technical and digital knowledge will be invaluable as we connect more with customers and implement new capabilities through electronic channels and mobile commerce” Walmart’s president Rob Walton, said. “Walmart invests in e-commerce capabilities through talent, technology and compliance. Kevin’s passion and extensive knowledge of social media align with our approach to engage our customers through digital and physical channels,” he added. Meanwhile, Systrom remarked the profound impact Walmart has had as a global leader in retail and said: “I am honored to be joining the Board of Walmart and have the ability to provide more convenient and flexible ways for people to buy”.Systrom, 30, is best known as the director and co-founder of Instagram. He holds a BA in Business and Engineering from Stanford University and from 2011, his talent was recognized by prestigious magazines such as Fortune and TIME.
