Boxeo Telemundo Ford the most watched boxing program on TV regardless of language during 2014 summer season

Boxeo Telemundo Ford became the most watched boxing program on television regardless of language during its 2014 summer season with an average of 566,000 Total Viewers for a +65% growth versus last year, according to Nielsen. Boxeo Telemundo Ford kicked-off its 2014 summer season with the fight between Jonathan “Pitbull” Vidal of Puerto Rico and Mexico’s Juan “Loquito” Kantún which became the #1 boxing telecast on television for the week of July 14 and ranked as the program’s most-watched telecast in history with 641,000 Total Viewers. The fight called by René Giraldo and Jessi Losada averaged 294,000 Adults 18-49, the best delivery in the demo in six years. The momentum continued as the subsequent three telecasts of the season all ranked within the top five Boxeo Telemundo Ford programs in history among Total Viewers, including 577,000 Total Viewers delivered on July 25 for the fight between David “Severo” Carmona and Ricardo “El Meserito” Rodríguez; 529,000 Total Viewers on August 1 for the fight between Daniel “El Alacrán” Lozano and Antonio Tostado, and finally 516,000 Total Viewers on August 8 for the fight between Edgar “Nene” Ortega and Daniel Rosario.During its summer season Boxeo Telemundo Ford also held a sizable lead over UniMás’ Solo Boxeo, beating it by +57% in Total Viewers (566,000 vs. 360,000) and +81% in Adults 18-49 (246,000 vs. 136,000). Year-to-date, Boxeo Telemundo is on track to deliver its best performance in network history among Total Viewers, averaging 427,000 Total Viewers, +32% higher than 2013. The 2014 fall season is scheduled to start on Friday, October 3.Boxeo Telemundo Ford was launched in 1989. René Giraldo and Jessi Losada, the longest-serving boxing narrator/commentator duo on US Spanish-language television, are the current hosts alongside reporters Kaziro Aoyama and Ana Jurka.
