La Ruta de la Muerte highlights the reality faced by the thousands who attempt to cross the Mexican border
The route traveled by thousands of migrants through Mexico each year in an effort to reach the United States is considered to be one of the most dangerous around the world, characterized by hazards and often unspeakable acts of violence. La Ruta de la Muerte, a new original production by Discovery en Español, accompanies a group of migrants on this dangerous trek, while vividly capturing their journey. The special premieres on Sunday, October 16 at 9pm.On August 2010, 72 migrant workers were kidnapped and murdered at a ranch in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. This bloodbath exposed the reality faced by thousands of migrants every year. Via reenactments and with exclusive access to the scene of the crime and the testimony of one of the survivors, La Ruta de la Muerte retraces the events that led to this massacre.La Ruta de la Muerte is an original production by Discovery en Español under the direction of Michela Giorelli and Irune Ariztoy, with the assistance of Pacha Films, under the direction of Guillermo Galdos and Luis del Valle.
