WAPA TV will become “the reality TV channel” in 2012

Jimmy Arteaga: The last four years have been a transition and growth phase that has helped the channel mature

At the 2012 Upfront, Jimmy Arteaga, VP of Programming of WAPA TV, spoke with PRODU about their expectations for this year and the relevance of the new programming for the positioning of the channel.“We are pleased. It has been four years of sustained growth and three years being number one in Puerto Rico. Next year will be important for WAPA because it will consolidate itself as channel of realities and multi-platform shows, which is what we have been working on,” said Arteaga.Regarding programming for 2012, the executive pointed out that after the success Idol Puerto Rico in 2011, they will air another season and will add Idol Kids, a pilot they hope can be produced in Latin America. Arteaga also mentioned they are developing new formats and producing the renowned show Minute to Win It.He said they have created several service platforms that allow clients to get a better return on investment on their marketing objectives.“The last four years have been a transition and growth period that has helped the channel mature and once again become the absolute leader in Puerto Rico. Since the transition to digital three years ago, WAPA has seen the growth of its different channels,” added Arteaga.
