Vincenzo Gratteri de ViX+ y Patricio Wills de W Studios
Travesuras de la Niña Mala, an adaptation of the book by Mario Vargas Llosa, is the new series that ViX+ will premiere on December 8 (one episode per week). The series is produced by W Studios, chaired by Patricio Wills, who assured that it is the most ambitious project in which he has been involved; while Vincenzo Gratteri, SVP of Development at ViX+, announced that this product will be seen in Brazil thanks to a recent agreement closed with the Globo network.
“For ViX+, Travesuras de la Niña Mala fully meets our mission of being the home of all Spanish speakers, both in terms of audience and as a creative community, and what better than an attractive, seductive, irreverent, and modern story. The agreement was not to betray the spirit of the book, without falling into literal obedience to the text,” commented Gratteri.
Wills said that it took him 12 years to complete this project, starring Macarena Achaga and Juan Pablo Di Pace after the rights were acquired. “To achieve it, we first had to have the rights and then the money to do it because it’s not just any story or a classic telenovela, a bold screen was needed ready to take risks. Then came ViX+ with the vision of producing Latino and Hispanic, with Latin American writers like Vargas Llosa. It is one of the most complicated productions we have ever made and the most ambitious project in which I have been involved.”
He explained that the complexity of the project has to do with the change of periods, costumes, ages, and cities. They filmed in Paris, and London and did some recreations in Mexico, bringing together an international crew.
Gratteri added that, even though this ten-episode production targets the Spanish-speaking market, it can travel to other countries such as Brazil, where it will be broadcast soon on the Globo network: “It is a flagship project, which on the one hand is very Latino, but with an international vocation, able to work not only in Spanish-speaking territories.”
Wills highlighted that the music was created especially for the series, not only as a background for climax moments but also to lead the viewer to experience the place where the moments take place, which also includes the costumes and the setting.
María López Castaño was responsible for the adaptation of Travesuras de la Niña Mala, which invites questioning living on autopilot, self-transformation, and taking more risks to always feel alive and seek happiness in what is exciting.
