Escándalos (40×60´, first season), the original fiction project VIP 2000 TV presented at the LA Screenings, started production of the first of 20 episodes to be shot in Mexico.”Were doing it with a local independent production house and is overseen by a seasoned Mexican television executive, told PRODU Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000. It will be presented at Mipcom 2014 in Cannes, which incidentally will have Mexico as Country of Honour. We already have 40 episodes in preproduction between Mexico and Venezuela (Televen), and will soon produce some in Panama and Peru. The idea is to make a 100% international product that works in the primetime of any country in Latin America, said Rotundo. She added that its important for VIP 2000 to have a production center in Mexico and that the company struck a partnership with a trusted local producer, which will be announced at Mipcom along with the completed first episode.Additionally, VIP 2000 is in advanced conversations with a U.S. Hispanic network to program Escándalos in its primetime. The plan is to premiere in January of 2015 with daily shows for the channels that wish to program it this way.We feel Latin America is undergoing a sustained growing phase: our agreements with MGM have worked wonderfully and were now focusing on another one. Expendables 3 will be released in August in U.S. theaters and we are distributing the film in Latin America; and we now have original production, said Rotundo.
