Anabella Sosa, founder of Upstairs and Rodrigo Pérez-Castro, director of the animated film Koatí
Anabella Sosa, founder of Upstairs and Rodrigo Pérez-Castro, director of the animated film Koatí talked about this effort at Ventana Sur in Buenos Aires.
“Our film was selected by the Annecy Festival and the Ventana Sur association among the best five movies in Work In Progress in animation,” Sosa said.
“It’s a traditional animated film that features Latin American animal’s species. It’s a story with a universal message” Pérez-Castro explained.
Koatí is Sosa’s first animated film. She spent two years working on it together with Pérez-Castro. She considers it “a song for Latin America.”
Luis Balaguer and Sofía Vergara are among those supporting the project. Vergara is “our partner and main actress. She is the movie villain.”
Sosa explained that they were funded by Eficine in Mexico, “and our Latin American distributor is Televisa, which has supported us from the beginning since this was only an idea on paper. We also have private investors.”
