Univision Communications Inc. announced plans for the sixth annual broadcast of TeletónUSA, to air live for 32 hours on the Univision Network beginning October 6 at 7pm ET (4pm PT).
Under the theme Estamos Unidos (We Are United), TeletónUSA will simulcast for the first time with Teleton Mexico; while production and fundraising will be managed separately, the programs will include a two-hour simulcast. TeletónUSA 2017 will include live segments from Plaza Mexico in Los Angeles, and will return to New York’s iconic Times Square.
“TeletónUSA was inspired by Teletón Mexico’s extraordinary efforts to promote community support for children with disabilities and their families. So it’s particularly fitting that this year the Univision and Televisa telecasts are aligned on the same dates and with an unprecedented two-hour simulcast to reinforce our solidarity with efforts to create a more inclusive world for all children,” said Randy Falco, CEO of Univision Communications Inc.
“We must focus on what’s important, the lessons offered each day by each child who goes into a Telethon Center, with a problem that is infinitely bigger than any we may have. Those lessons make you strive every day to do good. Those lessons are what makes us come together for them,” added Televisa president Emilio Azcárraga.
One of TeletónUSA constant over the years has been the presence of top names from Univision and the world of Hispanic entertainment, who volunteer their time to host and perform at the event. The show will feature over 40 musical performances, some of which will be broadcast from CRIT-USA in San Antonio.
