Univisión is getting ready to launch a 24-hour news channel utilizing the same bandwidth gained with the digital conversion.The recently appointed president of News of the network, the Colombian journalist Isaac Lee, made the announcement to PRODU. He has held the job at the Doral offices in Miami for only three days, although his post officially starts on January 3rd.In an exclusive interview with PRODUs Editor in Chief, Ríchard Izarra, Lee talks about his plans and his career. He comments on his relationships with Univisións president, César Conde, and Televisas president and CEO, Emilio Azcárraga. Lee also discusses the role of journalism in the digital and multimedia age.Lee denied there would be any layoffs in the news department and instead assured there would be more hiring. I believe it is always important to bring fresh talent to our teams. There will be a revolution but it will be a peaceful one. At Univisión I will apply the type of journalism Im used to: ferociously independent, respecting our audience and answering only to it, an investigative journalism, said Lee.He also plans to emphasize new media, social media and the dot-coms. We are going to unify our efforts on radio, TV, and local networks, with the Internet, added Lee.
