Univision Communications Inc. announced the appointment of Roberto Vizcón to News director for the Puerto Rico station, effective Monday, March 4. He will report to Malule González, VP and general manager of the station. Throughout his 34-year career, Vizcón has held various posts in the television industry. He began as a production assistant at WUSA-TV in Washington D.C. and went on to become the general manager for two television stations in South Florida. He went on to serve as news director for WSCV-TV 51, Telemundos station in Miami. In that position, which he held for 12 years, Vizcón helped create the first NBC/Telemundo duopoly in the U.S. In addition, he was a news producer for WFUN-TV in South Florida and also held the position of general manager for WGEN-TV Canal 8, the Miami affiliate of the Colombian network, Caracol. Vizcón was also the general manager of WTMO-TV, the Telemundo affiliate in Orlando, where he launched the local 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts and oversaw a weekly public affairs program. The station was the leader among the Hispanic community and sponsored more than 30 annual events in central Florida. Were excited to welcome Roberto to Univision Puerto Rico.
