Ray Warren, president of Telemundo Deportes, at the start of his participation in the press web conference of the Telemundo Upfront, highlighted statistics of the last World Cup: The event generated a total of 52 million TV viewers, 20% of them spoke English, 80% of audience share in bilingual audiences, 50% hadn’t seen Telemundo in the last 30 days and 2 billion minutes of live programming were watched.
For this summer, with the events FIFA Women’s Cup and Copa América (from June 7 to July 7), Telemundo aims to continue with the growing path in sports. The Summer of Soccer-as it has been called- will offer 78 matches, 36 teams in14 cities, in two continents. A total of more than 750 live hours. Two weeks after the end of these events, Telemundo will place on their screen the Premiere League games.
Warren also announced that they are expanding the Boxeo Telemundo franchise to four editions in 2020. Also for 2020 they will air the Tokyo Olympic Games from July 24 to August 9, around 2,600 hours of live content.
