When Ray Warren, president of Telemundo Deportes, entered the company, they were 600 days away from the World Cup –the first to be aired on Telemundo— and decided to change the posters and the countdown clock for the World Cup. “Instead of ‘World Cup Ready’, I changed all the signs to ‘World Cup Great, because I felt that we had to have a north star and that star was ‘World Cup Great’. The whole company understands this. I think we have been able to really create a lift in the culture between the Telemundo Center, number one in primetime, the World Cup. It’s amazing!” highlights Warren.

He explained that starting Wednesday, June 13 they will start to air specific content from Russia for the World Cup. “From start to finish, we will have more than 500 hours of television programming and over a thousand hours of digital content. The broadcast will be as good as it can be. It is brand new technology. We will be adding augmented reality features, and virtual reality features. Thanks to our partners at Comcast and Xfinity it will be very easy to access information, statistics, games coming up. We found that homes with Xfinity and Comcast during the Olympics had 30% more viewers than other MVPDs because it’s very easy and user-friendly,” he added.

Warren said they will have 500 people in Russia, 100 in Telemundo Center and 100 in Stanford, Connecticut. “That’s another thing that we have that none of our competitors have: both an authentic Spanish-language television network and an authentic English language network, that has done the Olympics since 1988”.
