Telemundo Boston/WNEU announced it will be launching the stations first-ever live local newscasts later this summer, delivering the Spanish-speaking community throughout the Boston area the most up-to-date local news, weather and information available. The station will add 60 minutes of local news each weekday during late summer 2015 and will be hiring Spanish-speaking journalists to support the news launches.Spanish-speaking viewers in the Boston area have been underserved with local news for a very long time so we are proud to deliver what they want and deserve: best-in-class journalism with live and locally-produced newscasts that report the information that they care about, said Mike St. Peter, SVP and general manager of Telemundo Boston.The two live, half-hour newscasts are scheduled to launch weeknights (Monday to Friday) at 6pm and 11pm and will deliver up-to-the-minute local news and information, weather, sports, entertainment and community news.Co-located with necn, the largest 24-hour regional news network in the United States, Telemundo Boston will also debut a new state-of-the-art newsroom and news set featuring the latest technologies and enhancements. Additionally, the stations on-air newscasts will feature new on-screen graphics and visual designs to complement the stations robust online and digital presence.
