Telemundo 51 Miami: We are attracting a younger audience and have been leaders on local primetime for 24 months

Jorge Carballo, president and general manager of Telemundo 51 Miami/WSCV, told PRODU that they see as a positive trend the fact that the station is attracting a younger audience. Carballo also highlighted that for 24 months they have been leaders on the TV station’s local primetime in Miami.“We are happy that our programming is attracting a younger population, 18-34 year olds, which is difficult to attract. The novelas that the network is producing are having results in that demographic segment. It is very healthy because the TV viewer is going to stay with us a long time”, he expressed. He announced that the debut of the fourth season of El Señor de los Cielos was bigger than they expected. He said that all the novelas on primetime in Miami do very well. “Currently, the channel has been number one on primetime for 23 and 24 months, above American channels”.He also mentioned the positive performance of the Turkish novel, Fatmagül, on the 12pm schedule. “The novela helped us with advertisers. Not all of them use daytime, but there is a sector that has results, that depend on the direct response and for that they need the viewer to be there, live. It was a hit”.The executive emphasized the positive performance of the 5:30pm newscast, which doesn´t lose in its schedule since it was launched.He added that they are preparing for the Olympics in August and the sales of the event are doing very well.
