Latin Everywhere announced a partnership with Telefónica to offer the mobile carrier’s Latin American customers Pongalo, the content streaming service with a library of more than 50,000 hours of telenovelas and other content.

Pongalo will debut a preview of its Latino-focused global subscription OTT service later this month, accompanied by exclusive benefits only available to Telefónica’s Movistar customers.

Movistar customers in the region will receive exclusive benefits, such as discounted pricing and extended free trials not available to the general public, and will also be offered the convenience of paying for weekly and monthly Pongalo subscriptions through their regular mobile bills. Additionally, Movistar and Pongalo will collaborate on joint retail and marketing promotions.

The deal comes at a time when Latin Everywhere is rapidly expanding its Pongalo platform. Last quarter, Revolution Studios acquired a stake in the company, allowing it to round out Pongalo’s unprecedented slate of Spanish-language telenovelas with additional content.

“We are delighted that Telefónica has chosen Pongalo as a select streaming service partner. Latino audiences globally are eager for new solutions for streaming content on mobile devices,” said Chairman Rich Hull and CEO Jorge Granier of Pongalo’s U.S.-based parent company, Latin Everywhere.

Pongalo began as a single YouTube channel, and is now the largest Latino-focused film and TV network on YouTube, surpassing 10 million subscribers and 2 billion views last year, predominantly from mobile devices.

The preview of Pongalo’s new subscription offering will be initially available via Android and Apple devices, and the web.
