FOX Deportes made history on Sunday (2/2), airing the Super Bowl for the first time ever on a Spanish-language channel in the U.S., and set a new record with an average audience of 561,000 Total Viewers, making Super Bowl XLVIII the most-watched non-soccer sports event in Spanish cable history as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 at MetLife Stadium. Viewership built throughout the game and peaked at 794,000 Total Viewers and 568,000 Adults 18-49 during the games second half. The Super Bowl XLVIII post-game show also delivered strong viewership figures with 332,000 Total Viewers and 200,000 Adults 18-49. A special edition of Central + immediately following the Super Bowl post-game show concluded the networks coverage with 197,000 Total Viewers and 123,000 Adults 18-49. Live coverage of Super Bowl XLVIII was also available digitally via FOX Sports GO, marking the first time the Super Bowl was streamed live in Spanish. A total of 40% of the live stream viewers watched for the entire duration of the program, from pre-game through the end of the game. On the social media front, Super Bowl XLVIII garnered 4.7M tweets on FOX Deportes, the most of any Spanish-language television event in history. FOX Deportes’ team contributing to the historic telecast included play-by-play commentator John Laguna; analysts Brady Poppinga, a Super Bowl champion; Chicago Bears’ Roberto Garza, Francisco X.
