Storyrocket is an online marketplace, the first in its style, that connects writers and their plays with international producers in the aim to take them to cinema, television or the web.
“In the entertainment industry, everything starts with a book or script. Content is king, but content is everywhere, there is no place that gathers and organizes it easily in order for written work to be discovered, chosen and produced,” commented Ana Benítez, co-founder and president of Storyrocket.
Although on the web page we can see projects that are already published, writers must become members. This is free, for their books, scripts, novels or treatments to be posted on the site. The same thing goes for producers if they want to be directly in touch with the author.
Benítez, who was senior producer of Special Events at Univision Network, estimates that they will have 10 thousand members for the last quarter of 2017 when they also plan to launch the version in Spanish. Storyrocket was presented three months ago.
On the page, writers can create a pitch package that allows your work to be discovered by producers. This is key to highlight… “For example, if you have a romantic comedy, Storyrocket allows you to place up to three genres. If you only put romance, your story can be overlooked by a producer that is looking at comedy”.
The site also allows writers to place a video in order to highlight it.
