Starz Entertainment launches Encore Español
Starz Entertainment launches Encore Español, the newest premium movie channel, offering its subscribers movie programming 24/7 in Spanish, uncut and commercial-free. Expected to launch for cable, satellite and Telco affiliates on August 1st, the new channel will offer the same schedule of Hollywood hits and favorite movie programming found on Encore, the premium channel with more than 33 million subscribers. “We are extremely pleased to be able to offer Hispanic households an additional option for viewing premium movie content with Encore Español. Hispanic household ratings over-index on Encore in viewership by more than 40%. We look forward to meeting the needs of our key multichannel affiliates for Spanish-language programming with a great new addition to the Encore family of channels,” said Ed Huguez, EVP, Sales and Affiliate Marketing.”In addition to offering a deep collection of recent and hit movie titles that appeal to all tastes and sensibilities, Encore and Encore Español leverage the exclusive studio partnerships we have with Disney and Sony that strengthen the newer, family movie content we offer on our channels,” said Stephan Shelanski, EVP of Programming. Top movies on Encore Español will include a wide -range of recent hit Hollywood movies including Alice in Wonderland, Up, 2012, The Bounty Hunter, and The Princess and the Frog, and other popular films including The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Nothing Like the Holidays, The Bourne Identity, Gangs of New York, City Island, Brooklyn’s Finest, and The Scorpion King.
