Alex Marin SPT
“For us, it is exciting to have the three hours of primetime of UniMás dedicated to our content,” says Álex Marín, EVP Distribution, and Networks for Latin America and Canada of Sony Pictures Television on the recent launches of Rosario Tijeras, Atrapada and Tres Milagros on the US network.
Additionally, the production company just launched this week La Guzmán on Imagen TV, “with almost 4 points of rating, which makes us feel very proud of our bioseries”. For the Mexican market, they are expecting the debut of María Magdalena on TV Azteca and they just finished shooting the fourth season of Shark Tank Mexico. “We are developing more versions for other countries in the region and have a spin-off for Brazil”.
After the success of Spiderman into de Spider-verse and Venom they managed to expand their audience, therefore the development of more stories of this universe are on SPT´s agenda. In the US they also launched Deadly Class on SyFy, one of the most commented and renowned series in the last LA Screenings.
Marín also referred to the closing of the OTT Crackle in Latin America. “We have to recognize that it was not viable. But I think what is happening in the industry with the OTTs is fascinating. There are a lot of players in the OTT space. We are independent producers and have more windows for our content.”
