Somos TV´Semillitas celebrates Earth Month on April

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 23 de abril de 2013

Semillitas, the 24 hours animation channel for Latino children between 0 and 5 years old owned by Somos TV, celebrates in the month of April Earth Month, a time focused in raising awareness about environmental issues and the need of establishing a sustainable development model. The month includes Earth Day (April 22) and during this period countless activities will be held in communities across the United States and around the world, emphasizing the need to address issues such as water quality, air pollution, the climate problem, toxic waste management and a lifestyle that depletes resources, among others themes. The environmental issue is of key importance for future generations and requires an educational effort. Semillitas prepared and programs this month entertainment clips and teaches crafts that promote resource conservation, recycling, love of nature and a more friendly attitude towards the environment. This is also reflected in a content selection that deals with these problems at a level appropriate for preschoolers especially, presenting relevant songs and teaching how to build objects together with their parents using household materials. “We have spent time in research and production for the celebration of Earth Month and Day. We believe that children, besides needing guidance and education on environmental issues, are also an ideal way to raise awareness among adults about these matters so important to the world today,” said José Antonio Espinal, COO of Somos TV.
