Sebastián Zurita, star of El Galán from Star+: This content is a tribute to the traditional telenovela

Star+ presented the first season of its new original series El Galán, an Estudios Teleméxico production, starring Humberto and Sebastián Zurita, who highlighted that this content is a tribute to the traditional telenovela, combined with current topics and inclusion. It will premiere on June 8 on this platform, property of Disney.
“What platforms have created is competition; opportunities were expanded and new challenges were generated, one of which is to generate better content for an audience that now consumes in five seconds what we offer them. It is necessary to modernize the type of projects we make and what is more important is that we have a large arsenal to compete globally, because this series will be watched worldwide, on par with Spanish and US productions. We are living a great moment in the industry” commented Sebastian Zurita.
Meanwhile, his father, Humberto, said that this type of platform offers actors the opportunity to survive “in a media where, in the past, telenovelas prevailed. We can now interpret roles in other genres, such as comedy. In El Galán I try to make fun of my career, of the situation in which the label galan (heartthrob) is very strong, without knowing that we are actually actors and that should be the most important thing. It is a story that has to do with love and respect, as well as with the dark part of playing with our reality and making fun of ourselves”.
Within this story, the role that the telenovela has in television and now also streaming stands out.; however, they seek to make a tribute to this genre that has gone around the world for decades: “Sometimes we talk about telenovelas contemptuously and they have actually been a great industry for many years, we must give them their weight and fair value. It draws my attention that Disney, with its fast policies and Star+ , that belongs to them, are very clear about the fact that novelas have been the focal point in many countries, and know they are being given a twist to understand things and become more mature. It is important to bear in mind that a company of this size feels respect for this genre. The market is changing, and so are we and the audience” added the actor Ernesto Laguardia.
El Galán. TV changed, he didn’t, is a black comedy by the seal Star Original Productions, that tells of the misfortunes of a telenovela heartthrob from the ’90s. It is a creation of Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, based on an idea by Horacio Convertini and directed by Chava Cartas.
It stars Humberto Zurita (Fabian Delmar), Dario Ripoll (Charly Morán), Dolores Heredia (Piedad), Sara Maldonado (Sofia), Patricia Reyes Spindola (Rocio), Barbara Perea (Yadira), America Valdes (Cristal), and includes the special participation of Ana Claudia Talancón (Melina Leclerc), Ernesto Laguardia (Juan Angel Apolo), and Sebastian Zurita as the young Fabian Delmar.
