Radio Televisión Española, Atresmedia and Mediaset España are working jointly on the launch of a platform open to all TDT operators, which will compile audiovisual contents from the three communications group in the aim to improve diversity, quality of the open TV offer and user experience through the services and functionalities offered by the HbbTV television and internet technology through broadband.
This technology allows interactivity, mobility, and a better experience in the consumption of TV contents.
In a second phase of the project, this future tech platform will move towards an additional OTT service for distribution of audiovisual contents with specific functionalities.
The journal El Español assures that the first advancements in the agreement will be in production at midyear and that the OTT service could be ready the first months of next year.
These agreements are part of the transition in the linear consumption broadcast industry towards the ever-increasing consumption of products á la carte.
