This past Wednesday, Telemundo held a press event in Miami to announce its new reality competition Yo Soy El Artista. The show was co-developed with Reset TV, and Toni Cruz, president of the Spanish production company, told PRODU he was satisfied with the collaboration. For almost six months weve been producing auditions across the U.S. The show will be shot over 13 weeks at Universal Studios in Orlando. Its scheduled to premiere on Sunday, September 14th and will end on December 14th. In all, it will be nine months of work resulting in 13 episodes, said Cruz, adding that producing at Universal Studios Orlando is a dream come true.Borja Pérez, SVP of Digital and Social Media of Telemundo Media, emphasized the crucial role social media plays in the development of the show. The first phase of the show will be determined by voting from 100 social influencers that will be there. These social influencers will dictate whether candidates will make the first cut on their way to becoming artists. I believe Yo Soy El Artista is the most innovative show that has been presented in the last few years, said Pérez. He was also proud to have put together with LatinWE, a conference surrounding the show labeled Yo Soy El Influencer. Weve been able to gather all these influencers in Orlando so that, through this new conference format, we can identify the needs of this new kind of programming, added Pérez.
