RCN: We will continue to operate the MundoFOX US network as enthusiastically and ambitiously as we have from the start

Although FOX is leaving MundoFOX US, RCN Television Group, the other partner in this project, expressed they will continue “as enthusiastically and ambitiously” as from the start.Julián Giraldo, EVP of International Channels for RCN International Distribution, told PRODU that their strategy will remain the same: to broaden the network’s distribution and coverage, in addition to improving the programming.He confirmed that Ibra Morales will remain as head of the network. “For now, the administrative structure continues to be led by Ibra. It will depend on him if he wishes to make a change or adjustment to his team”, expressed Giraldo.He highlighted that MundoFOX´s programming will continue to be a combination of the products in RCN Televisión, their own production and some third party content, which includes content from FOX. “The only difference is that now we will check out more programming options in order to license contents”, he stated.A possible change is the adjustment of the name MundoFOX, since FOX already has a pay TV channel in Latin America with the same name. “For now, the network will keep the same name, there could be a change in the future, but it hasn’t been discussed nor defined”.Giraldo emphatically denied rumors about RCN removing its support to MundoFOX. “RCN´s results are very good. There is no readjustment nor restructuring plan. We continue with our same strategy, some years are better than others. We wish to fulfil all our audience in the Hispanic market and will move forward with the project”.He added that FOX’s exit is due to the fact that they want to focus on pay TV channels and RCN wants to continue making an effort with the open TV channel. “To a certain extent, I think each company wanted to concentrate on what was important for each one”.
