Televisa began shooting its new teleseries La Candidata (60×60′), starring Silvia Navarro and produced by Giselle González, who assured that, even though it deals with political topics, it is a melodrama that seeks to highlight the empowering of a woman. November 21 at 9pm is the tentative date for the debut on TV. “It is the story of a woman who fights against lawlessness and corruption, for a better life. It is not a political complaint, it is a melodrama that reflects a current woman´s life. We are eager to be better people and a better country, explained the producer. On her second production ‘solo’ (the first was Yo No Creo en los Hombres), González expressed her intention to continue covering risky topics that open TV and telenovelas leave aside: I like to tell different stories, stay away from common everyday situations and touch strong topics from the melodramatic perspective, so it is important that Televisa is opening up to making riskier products. To end, she mentioned that the locations will be in Mexico City, where they will look for places that recreate scenarios that have to do with politics, and that they will use technological resources like F55 cameras and lighting that allow detailed images for the viewer.
