Three weeks before its premiere and after internal changes, producer Andrés Tovar has taken over the musical reality show La Academia, originally from TV Azteca. The show highlights voice, music, and talent, and a key element in this new edition is the human aspect.

Producer Andrés Tovar has taken charge of the musical reality show La Academia, an original format from TV Azteca, airing Sundays at 8:30 pm on Azteca Uno in Mexico. Regarding the changes made since his arrival in the second week of broadcasts, he stated that, in addition to music, voice, and talent, one of the main focuses is highlighting the human element of each participant.

“It’s an honor to be invited to produce this program. It’s a format I have great respect and admiration for—a classic TV Azteca project that continues to showcase the best of humanity: talent, discipline, values, and resilience of all its participants, unlike other realities that highlight people’s miseries,” he commented.

He noted that his role in production allows him to contribute his knowledge, passion for his work, and live TV experience: “Beyond the technological and visual aspects, I want to add many important elements content-wise because this is a window to communicate and offer valuable entertainment. Since the first week I started, it has been a significant challenge, involving professionals from this company and receiving support from everyone here, starting with Adrián Ortega, General Director of Content, who trusted me to be here. This format has a great opportunity to become a new academy.”

Tovar recalled that 22 years ago, he first worked on a musical competition reality show alongside Jaime Camil, who is now the main host of La Academia: “Over two decades ago, I was coordinating castings for Operación Triunfo with Camil, and now, we’ve reunited here.”

Regarding the evolution of reality shows over 22 years, the producer noted that the main changes are “in the profiles of the new generation of young people, who now have more open and respectful communication. Another challenge is observing how generations have changed and how we work with them to develop their talent, continue believing in their dreams, and contribute to achieving them.”

Finally, also the producer of the talk show Acércate a Rocío, said that La Academia is a project needing improvements, but it’s his goal “to offer a great show. I’m interested in making it a more human program, where the students’ emotions are genuinely shown because, in the end, that’s what connects us all as people.”
