“Powwow as a production company for 360-degree projects aspires to become the bridge between Hollywood and the Spanish-language media industry in the U.S., Spain and LatAm. We look for products, formats, and Latin American talent with the skills, appetite and validity to cross over to the Hollywood market. We want to establish the dialog between these two powerful industries which, although share a geographic territory, have mostly kept their distance,” said to PRODU Daniel Gutman, CEO of Powwow.Gutman said the company closed important projects in 2012, including a multi-year contract with Telemundo where Powwow collaborates in the development, production supervision and the first look of their own formats. “Telemundo has an energy I had not seen in years. With Emilio Romano’s leadership, they’re trying to change the balance and the fate of the U.S. Hispanic market. We’re proud to be part of this effort,” added Gutman. Many of these developments will be unveiled at the network upfront this May.Powwow also signed an important agreement with Spain’s Plural. “The Plural deal is for the co-development of original productions, new contents, and new talent, outside Spain and Portugal,” he said.Gutman also teased productions already underway with César Millán and Alessandra Rampolla and others to come in 2013. “Alessandra Rampolla is one of the great Latin American TV talents and in 2013 she will have a show in the U.S.,” said Gutman.
