Telemundo announced Latin music icon, Olga Tañón will serve as school director and judge of the mega-reality music competition, Yo Soy El Artista, slated to premiere in September. With castings completed across major cities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, Yo Soy el Artista will feature talented contestants who have to sing, dance and demonstrate star quality and showmanship, in an intense 13-week competition where the winner will be named the ultimate true “Artist.””Without a doubt, Olga Tañón is ideal to not only be a judge but also the school director. Her music career, tenacity, stage presence and discipline combined with her talent and charisma, make her one of the few artists that has been able to grow in different music genres, including merengue, ballads, pop and salsa, stated María López-Álvarez, SVP of Reality Programming at Telemundo. Telemundo and Spains Reset TV partnered to jointly own, develop, produce and distribute internationally, this reality competition series based on an original concept from Reset TV founders, Toni Cruz and Josep María Mainat, the creators of popular entertainment formats such as Crónicas Marcianas (Martian Chronicles), Mira Quién Baila (Look Whos Dancing) and Operación Triunfo (Star Academy), among others.
