Luis Fernández, EVP of News at Telemundo
Ten months after taking the position of EVP of News at Telemundo, Luis Fernández feels satisfied. “The balance is positive. We are very happy with the news team at Telemundo, it is magnificent, very hard working and the results are, humbly, increasingly better. I have always thought that when a change is necessary, the first thing to focus on are contents. Results are the consequence of a job well done,” he stated.
Sunday February 12, the special Inmigración, Trump y los Hispanos, hosted by José Díaz-Balart from Noticias Telemundo, placed Telemundo in first place in primetime in Hispanic TV, a milestone for the division led by Fernández.
“I believe 2017 will be a very important year for Noticias Telemundo, when all the changes that are happening on the screen will be consolidated,” he stressed.
He said they are thinking about and developing new incorporations and more changes, such as other programs they want to launch on prime time. “I am a believer in hard work. I can say that in the last two important news moments since November –the presidential election and the presidential inauguration on January 20— Telemundo specials have been the best,” he added.
“We work very close to our audience, trying to offer the best information possible, saying things as they are, and offering a service to the community,” ended Fernández.
