Nickelodeon Latin America inks development deal with Somos Productions

Nickelodeon Latin America announced that they have signed a development agreement with Somos Productions for a new teen telenovela during Mipcom 2011 in Cannes.A pilot for the series will be unveiled at Natpe this coming January in Miami Beach.The telenovela, which will consist of 75 one-hour episodes (45 minutes total running time), will feature international talent and include a lively mix of comedy, fantasy, suspense and adventure aimed at Nickelodeon’s audience.“We are delighted to enter this development agreement with Somos Productions, whose projects have an international reputation of quality. We are certain they will deliver an amazing pilot for Nickelodeon Latin America,” commented JC Acosta, CFO, SVP and executive in charge of Production for MTV Networks Latin America.“We were thrilled with the concept from the moment Somos Productions shared it with us. It’s sure to be very well-received at Natpe,” added Tatiana Rodríguez, SVP of Programming and Creative Strategy for Nickelodeon Latin America“We are very proud of the production, as it brings our company into a genre we are familiar with, hand-in-hand with Nickelodeon, a prestigious brand with a deep connection to its market. We know Nickelodeon has very clear positioning and has seen in us the qualities that sustain our business: knowledge of the genre, audience along with flawless execution,” stated Luis Villanueva, president and CEO of Somos Productions.The pilot is currently in production and will be presented to the market in 2012.
