WGEN-TV (Gentv), the Miami-based independent channel part of Caracol Television Group, wrapped up the week of October 15 with high ratings and viewership, only three weeks after its official re-launch. The channels new primetime show María Elvira became the second highest rated show in Miami for two consecutive days the week of October 15, from 8 to 9pm. Hosted by the controversial and highly-regarded 5-time Emmy-award winning television newscaster, María Elvira Salazar, the show is a one-hour informative program covering the latest headlines in foreign and domestic politics and society. During the same week Noticias 8 also received high ratings, becoming the third highest rated show between 9 to 10pm, according to both the NHSI and NSI Rating. The newscast from 9 to 10pm is anchored by two-time Emmy nominated anchorwoman Andrea Linares alongside veteran journalist and four-time Emmy-Award winner Ricardo Brown, who together report on the latest local, national and international news. Both María Elvira and Noticias 8 were compared to those aired at the same day and time on the other local Spanish TV stations Univision, Telemundo, America Teve, TeleFutura, MegaTV and Mundo Fox.
