Netflix announced that their television service grew from 50.1 million viewers in 2014 to 65.6 million in the second quarter of 2015. A great part of this growth occurred in international markets, where the figures went from 2.37 million clients to 23.3 million. The success and popularity of their original series, such as Daredevil and Orange Is the New Black, had an important impact on this process. This exceeded all forecasts. Bloomberg News had compiled the average estimates of five analysts which resulted in 1.94 million subscribers, and domestic subscriptions increased from 900 thousand to a total of 42.3 million, beating estimates of 636.000. The results reflect the progress in the efforts Netflix has made to build the first global Internet TV channel. While subscriptions increase, concerns over expansion costs gradually disappear. The company, based in Los Gatos, California, reported a loss of US$92 million in international streaming, less than the US$101 million projected in April.
