Juan Mayne, Content Acquisitions director at Netflix
Juan Mayne, director of Content Acquisition at Netflix, stated that the company is happy with the invititation to the first edition of Conecta Fiction. “It was very important for us to have a series market in Spanish, from the American Hispanic world, because it was inexistent.”
Mayne also highlighted the value of Spanish spoken productions: “There has always been quality in the Spanish and Latin American audiovisual content, and that is being boosted. Very interesting things are being made”.
The executive believes the fact that there are more screens and networks to watch contents makes everything grow. “The market is being activated with the amount of options and creativity is multiplying and ideas grow”.
Netflix, he stated, is looking for big stories, regardless of their place of origin. “I don’t know if we are risking more or less than other networks, but we do want to bring the best contents to our subscribers, we are always seeking the best stories to make users as happy as possible.”
