NBCUniversal highlighted Malverde, La Casa De Los Famosos, La Reina Del Sur 3, and the 2022 World Cup on Telemundo

The first super series period drama Malverde: El Santo Patrón that debuts in October, the new reality show La Casa De Los Famosos and the new season of La Reina Del Sur, were some of Telemundo’s original content exhibited on the NBCUniversal Upfront held this Monday the 17th virtually from Radio City Music Hall in New York.

The presentation, hosted by Hoda Kotb of NBC’s Today, highlighted the launch of four new drama series and three comedies. In addition, in the last year, 80 new series and special events have been given the go-ahead.

“We’re developing pilots all year-round and making our summer events bigger,” said Susan Rovner, chairman of Entertainment Content for TV and Streaming at NBCUniversal.

Among the scripted productions that stood out were the dramas Ordinary Joe, Law & Order: For The Defense, La Brea and The Thing About Pam with Renee Zellweger for NBC; Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, and Dr. Death for Peacock; and regarding comedy: Grand Crew and American Auto for NBC, as well as the thriller series Chucky for SyFy and USA Network; to mention a few.

In sports: Tokyo Olympics in July; Winter Olympics in February 2022 -which for the first time will coincide with the broadcast of the Super Bowl on NBC-, and the FIFA World Cup on Telemundo, in mid-2022, stood out. The 11-year agreement with the NFL was also part of the presentation, which includes the return of Sunday Night Football, which will be broadcast live simultaneously on NBC and Peacock.

Linda Yaccarino, president of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal, concluded the presentation remarking that people spend 100 billion hours a year watching their content. “We have an elite group of creators and we represent the future of media, technology, and culture,” she said.
