The Profecías project took a year to complete
The original production Profecías, which aired with excellent ratings in Latin America on Nat Geo, has been airing on Nat Geo Mundo for the U.S. Hispanic audience. This series is part of the original production strategy launched by Nat Geo two years ago. With Profecías, the strategy was to have a series not only for Latin America, but also for U.S. Hispanic, with themes that are relevant and current,” said to PRODU Carmen Larios, VP of Programming and Development of Nat Geo Mundo. The channel started researching the Mayan prophecies and found a wealth of them. The series tackles these predictions: natural catastrophes, the apocalypse, and extraterrestrial life. Profecías, co-produced with Argetinean Production house Snap, totals five episodes shot in different cities in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, and Argentina. The project was completed over the course of a year. The biggest challenge for the team and what took the longest, was finding the right balance to tell the story with scientific grounds and not make it something based on fantasy,” said Larios.
