Nat Geo Mundo debuts with distribution through AT&T U-verse TV, Cox, DISH and Verizon FiOS

National Geographic Networks announced the official launch of Nat Geo Mundo, nonfiction entertainment network for U.S. Hispanics that features high-quality original programming involving nature, science, culture and history. The Spanish-language network, which will begin broadcasting nationally July 1 and reach four million U.S. homes this year, kicks-off its debut with a slate of original content including a series of events focusing on Latin American Independence. The new network’s programming will predominantly be a combination of series and specials from the National Geographic Channel in Latin America that have never aired in the U.S. and new original shows, complemented by National Geographic Channel favorites. “Nat Geo Mundo’s programming lineup reflects our goal of entertaining the U.S. Hispanic audience and expanding their horizons about the world that surrounds them,” said Hernán López, president and CEO of Fox International Channels, who will oversee Nat Geo Mundo. Initially the channel will be available in select homes through AT&T U-verse TV, Cox, DISH Network, and Verizon FiOS.“We’re proud to have Nat Geo Mundo celebrate its debut in a month when the U.S. and several Latin American nations are celebrating their own independence,” said Steve Schiffman, President, National Geographic Networks U.S.Nat Geo Mundo kicks off its Independence Day celebration with a U.S. Independence Day special, Megastructures: USS Ronald Reagan, which airs Monday July 4 at 9pm.The channel also presents Mexico 200, a three part mini-series, with episodes one and two premiering back to-back on Saturday, July 2 at 8pm and 9pm respectively, and episode three premiering on Sunday, July 3 at 8pm.
