Televisa presented in Mexico City the Mexican contestants of the reality The Ultimate Fighter Latinoamérica, which will premiere on broadcast TV on August 13th at 10pm on Canal Cinco, and on pay-TV on August 21st on the UFC Networks. At a press conference, producer Miguel Ángel Fox, accompanied by show host Javier Poza and the eight fighters from the Mexican team, said producing the show’s first season for Latin America is a great challenge considering its long history in the U.S.“The project comes at a great time for the sport in the country. This is the first season of a program that is already on its 20th season in the U.S. I think this show is good for the future of mixed martial arts and we hope it will be successful so that we can start to think of a second season. We are happy the premiere in the region features a Mexican team competing against a team of fighters from the rest of Latin America,” said Fox. He pointed out this is the first time a program of this kind airs on the evening block of Canal Cinco. It will feature 16 fighters from two rival teams (Mexico vs. Latin America), on two different weight categories (featherweight and bantamweight), who vie for a contract with the UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship) organization. The finale will be live from the Mexico City Arena this November 15th.
