Miami-Dade County is launching a program to attract film productions to Miami in early 2024. It is an aggressive bet that proposes reimbursing 20% of a minimum investment of US$5 million to productions shooting in Miami locations, revealed Marco Girón, film commissioner of Miami-Dade County.

“We have an economic incentive to attract more productions to Miami. In early 2024, we will launch the program where all productions coming to our community and spending more than US$5 million will receive a 20% refund.” Girón said it is a different bet than other incentives because it means a direct check to the studio. “Our leadership and government are contributing millions to attract production in this area.”

Girón highlighted that Miami is experiencing a good moment because it has a lot of global attention, and the government is designing key initiatives to attract more production in Miami. “We know that nowadays, one of the keys to getting a project to greenlight is the location, and the production always asks if there are incentives. We know this is already a practice worldwide, and countries are offering excellent incentives. Therefore, with this investment, we can attract more production.”

He added that a large part of the film industry wants to be in Miami as it is the capital of Latin music, where the most important labels in the music industry and artists from all over the world are. “Everything goes through Miami, and by implementing these incentives next year, we have caught the interest of global Hollywood and large productions. We want to attract productions of US$30 million to US$50 million spent in our county because it represents investment, employment, and marketing for the town.”
