Mexicanal renewed its programming agreement with Sistema Michoacano de Radio y Television (SMRTV). With this renewed deal, the network viewers will continue enjoying content from this important region, which represents the heritage of 12% of the burgeoning Mexican population now calling the United States home. The renewal includes a commitment to co-produce Contacto Paisano, a new half-hour program with a focus on immigration issues, featuring immigrant stories, advice and legislation updates. Contacto Paisano will set the format for other Mexicanal content partners to participate and produce region-specific episodes of the show. Other programming from SMRTV will include the cooking show Michoacán Gourmet and Michoacán, Tú si Tienes de qué Presumir, a magazine show featuring the most alluring and culturally impressive places of the state.“We are very, very pleased to have renewed our agreement. Our “paisanos” living and working in the U.S. will continue to have a link with their home-state through the daily information and entertainment they will receive from our station through Mexicanal,” mentioned Guadalupe Santacruz Ezquivel, director general of the SMRTV.“Now more than ever, Mexicanal is committed to bringing information and entertainment from their hometowns in Mexico to the growing number of Mexicans living in the U.S. Maintaining and growing the relationships with local affiliates is a key component to fulfilling this commitment, and we are very pleased to see our relationship with Sistema Michoacano successfully evolving,” said Mexicanal’s founder and president, Luis Torres-Bohl.
