Son Mariachis premieres on Mexicanal Sunday, December 21, at 7:30pm Pacific/10:30pm Eastern
Committed to bringing a diverse array of regional Mexican entertainment, culture and music to U.S. viewers, Mexicanal has created and produced its second original docu-reality program, Son Mariachis. This 13-episode series, which takes viewers behind the scenes of Central Mexicos Mariachi Banda Nueva Generación, captures the lifestyle and struggles of those involved in one of the countrys most enduring musical pastimes. Son Mariachis premieres on Mexicanal Sunday, December 21, at 7:30pm Pacific/10:30pm Eastern. Son Mariachis takes a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road with a mariachi family, letting viewers in on the laughter and tears, familial struggles and eternal search for the right money, songs and events that will help them achieve success. Facing an equal mix of hard work and heartbreak, they yearn to fulfill one of their greatest adventures: to play their music at soccers ultimate spectacle, the FIFA World Cup Brazil. Mariachi music is the pride of Mexico and the hallmark of Mexican people around the world, and yet very little has been done in the documentary space to cover this topic. We are proud to bring light to such a treasured tradition by introducing viewers to the Cuellars, an irreverent, fun and often adventurous family of mariachis they will soon grow to love, said Demian Torres-Bohl, producer and New Media director for Mexicanal, and Chief Creative Officer of parent company, Castalia Communications.
