Mexicanal announced the departure of its general manager and Chief Operating Officer, Maria (Maruchi) Urquiaga, effective May 31st 2012. Urquiaga joined Mexicanal in 2004 as part of the founding team and has been with the company since its conceptual stage. Maruchi has been pivotal to Mexicanals success. She was part of the small group of professionals who built Mexicanal; her knowledge and experience in the programming and branding of the Network made it possible for Mexicanal to earn many accolades from both audiences and members of the industry in the competitive US Hispanic television market. Her contributions to the growth and strengthening of the Network are undeniable. We are very grateful to her and wish her the best in her future endeavors, said Luis Torres-Bohl, president and CEO of Mexicanal Television Network.Torres-Bohl will undertake the majority of her responsibilities, assisted by Fernando Polar, CFO and VP of Business Affairs, as well as Israel Reyero, Programming director, Tony González, Production and Operations director and Dora Elia Robledo, Administration and Human Resources director.It has been a long and arduous road to help build what Mexicanal is today.
