Ben Lopez de Latino Media Fest

For Ben López, executive director of NALIP, the virtual edition of the Latino Media Fest that ended on Friday 16, became a more global and international event. “This festival has been an incredible experience, not only is multi-media and multi-format, but also a celebration of the US and Latin America Hispanic talents. He mentioned as an example the panel EE UU de Brasil, “where NALIP proved that it recognizes the voices of diversity in all our groups and how the industry is moving forward in all these fields.”

“The Latino business is the creative force that is giving us more impetus in these times. And I feel, and I predict that this Latino’s force from the US, Latin America, and Spain is going to be one of the most formidable in the global market. For me these filmmakers, production pioneers, are going to conquer these global markets,” López emphasized.

Among the winners of the Latino Media Fest, Pose stood out as Best Latinx TV Show; the Best Latinx director was awarded to Flavio Alves for The Garden Left Behind; Walter Mercado’s documentary, Mucho Mucho Amor, won Best Latinx Film; Sofía Camargó’s short By the River won the jury award, and Claudia Puig, president of the LA Film Critics Association, was the recipient of the award for excellence in entertainment journalism.

“The Latino Media Fest presented 30 sessions that demystified the concept of the Hollywood industry. We are empowering the new generation to advance their careers and we serve as a union”, concluded López.
